Twitch streamer Kerry “Meo” responded to allegations of sexual abuse made by content creator Ashtro (@ashtronova) on November 24th.
In a statement from TwitLonger earlier today, the Twitch streamer claimed the situation was “extremely unfortunate,” and that he was losing the respect of his friends and his money from sponsorships and partners:
“This whole situation is extremely unfortunate. I am now losing my community members, losing respect among my friends and losing money from my sponsorships and partners. I wish Astronova and I could get along. It also saddens me that Astronova has such a negative memory of our short time together.”
Mio Responds to Astronova’s Sexual Abuse Allegations with a TwitLonger Update
The 1,926-word address began with Mayo mentioning FaZe Clan’s ongoing investigation into the allegations made by Ashtronova. He stated that he is “still evaluating” legal action, saying:
“It took us several days to submit my statement and accompanying evidence to FaZe to meet my obligations there. At this point, it is necessary to address these allegations in detail. I am still considering legal action with my legal team, but these allegations are so serious – and so unfounded – that I have to respond here.”
According to Mew, the incident Ashtronova mentioned happened in September 2021. He claimed that they both agreed and that the latter “never expressed any concern” about their interaction until last week:
“First, I want to say to Astronova, I’m sorry it came to this. We both know what happened in September 2021, and we both know we agreed and that you never expressed concern about our interaction until last week. To the extent that you look back and regret everything you did with me, I’m sorry and I wish That was not the case.”
The address continued, with Mayo responding to the allegations in written format. He refuted Astronova’s claims of conducting “completely professional” discussions, claiming that they “exchanged compliments and flirtatious messages” before her visit:
“She claims that before a flight to my home in September 2021 that we only had “completely professional” discussions. This is not true. Astronova and I exchanged flirtatious compliments and messages before her visit, including in August 2021 right before she asked to be on my sabbath stream. I knew I was flirting and asked her if it was more Too much. She said, ‘Never.'”
Mio mentioned going to a bar with his friends Bailey, Leo, Faria, Yuki, Jessie, and Chua after the sub. The Twitch content creator claimed he offered Astronova two or three drinks per session and drank the same amount himself.
The streamer addressed the allegations of sexual abuse in the next section of the post, stating:
“When we were sitting outside talking about life, she started holding my hand and being flirty in general. She didn’t slur her speech or anything, and other than that she seemed fine. Eventually, we started kissing.”
He mentioned Ashtronova and said “I’m pretty sure I agreed,” adding that the connection was important. He stated:
“As she said in her TwitLonger, she also kissed me back. I thought it was great and I thought she liked me. She states, “I’m pretty sure I agreed.” The context here is important: It was a verbal agreement. I literally asked her if it was okay if I Touching her, and she said yes. She also asked if I was okay with it, and I said yes. We continued to kiss outside. Things progressed. At this point it was around 4:30 in the morning.”
He went on to claim that he “never took a picture”:
“We then went to my room and had sex. I wish I could spare details here, but she brought this event into doubt. She seemed happy to enter my room. She was actively involved during the event. She never indicated that she did not want this to happen or otherwise She looked uncomfortable or drunk. I liked her and I thought she liked me too. That’s it. Ashtronova claims I took pictures of her without her consent. That’s not true. I never took pictures of her or us in the bedroom. I have no idea where that came from. Then we went to sleep and woke up next to each other The second”.
TwitLonger’s update ended with Mayo suggesting that he “never threatened” to take legal action against Astronova:
“I never threatened legal action against Ashtronova. I never tried to silence her. I never tried to blackmail her or anything resembling blackmail. I just wanted to understand the source of Ashtronova’s feelings and ill will against me. According to Ashtronova, her claims stem from re-reading her diary and reliving That night more than a year later.”
The Twitter community reacts to Mio’s response
Mio’s Twitter feed gained traction as more than 422 community members provided their thoughts on the matter. Here’s what they had to say:
Why was Mew suspended indefinitely from the FaZe clan?
In November, Ashtro (@ashtronova) posted a 3,417-word address called “My Story”:
She claimed that her teammate and old friend did “something terrible” to her. The streamer provided an in-depth account of an incident that took place last year in September.
Ashtro stated that she was invited to Mio’s house to participate in the sabbath. She went on to say that the latter flew her to Texas and that she was working on vlog content for her channel, which was never released.
After recalling a gathering at a club with fellow content creators Leo, Bailey and Nico, Ashtronova detailed the allegations of sexual abuse, stating:
“The next thing I remember is him kissing me. I was confused about it, but I did kiss him back and I thought about it. He didn’t kiss me for too long. He went straight to groping my body and being rough about it. It. It was weird. It was very strange, like something powerful. Again, he was sober and I wasn’t all there. I’m pretty sure I gave consent.”
She went on to say that she was drunk and that she doesn’t remember how they “got to his room”:
“But I was drunk. But I don’t remember how we got to his room but I knew we had sex. The fact that I don’t remember much of it is the disturbing part.”
Following the revelation, FaZe Clan announced that they are taking the allegations against Mew seriously and that both parties have “mutually agreed” to suspend the latter indefinitely.
