(COLORADO SPRINGS) — According to CSPD, officers with the Stetson Hills Division responded at 6:03 p.m. to the area of North Powers Boulevard and Palmer Park Boulevard regarding a crash in the southbound lanes of Powers.
When officers arrived, they found at least four cars that had been damaged in a crash. The engine from one of the cars was ejected from the car upon impact and the engine landed in the northbound lane. CSPD said another car showed “extensive damage.”
At least three of the people involved in the crash were sent to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries, CSPD said. Another driver was transported by a private car for minor injuries.
CSFD tweeted at 6:40 p.m. that the people previously reported to be trapped in one of the cars had been freed, almost 40 minutes after the crash. The CSFD described one patient’s condition as “critical.”

Powers Boulevard remains blocked after a major five-car crash near Palmer Park Boulevard Powers Boulevard.
CSPD said the crash happened just after 6 p.m
Five cars were involved and some passengers were seriously injured. Three were taken to hospital.
CSPD said Powers remains blocked northbound at Palmer Park Boulevard, and southbound is blocked Constitution Avenue.

The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said both directions of Powers Boulevard are blocked due to a crash, and the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) is working to free anyone trapped as a result of the crash.
CSPD originally posted on their Communication Twitter account just after 6:20 p.m., saying northbound Powers was blocked at Palmer Park Boulevard and southbound Powers was blocked at Constitution Avenue, due to a “large multi-vehicle traffic accident.”
CSFD also posted on Twitterand said firefighters were working to free at least one person from the crash.
CSPD said the road would be closed for several hours, anyone traveling on that side of town is asked to avoid the area.
